Release Notes reqSuite® rm 4.5

The new reqSuite® rm update 4.5 brings automation, individual rules and smart exports, for even more efficiency and fewer errors in everyday project work.

New features and improvements

The latest release of reqSuite® rm makes working with requirements even more intelligent, flexible and efficient. The focus is on individually customizable quality checks, extended automation, optimized export options and new options in the areas of AI and reuse.

The goal: less manual work, fewer sources of error and more time for value-adding activities.

Update 4.5 was released on 2025-03-30.

Own rules thanks to the Rule Engine

The proven quality check function of reqSuite® rm checks requirements for completeness and formal correctness. With the new Rule Engine, you can now define your own rules to tailor these checks even better to project-specific requirements.

For example, an error can be reported automatically if safety-relevant requirements have been given too low a priority, without any additional checking effort.

In addition, system actions can now be automated via the Rule Engine. Requirements can be dynamically changed or added as soon as certain conditions are met.

Examples:

  • The priority is automatically set to “high” if a requirement has been marked as security-relevant.
  • The status of a requirement changes to “ready for testing” as soon as all associated tasks have been completed.

These automated logics can be defined directly in the project templates and ensure consistency with minimal manual effort.

More clarity in Word export

Practical enhancements have also been made in the documentation area:

  • The INSTANCES command now also supports all meta-attributes such as status. Previously this was only possible with TABLE.
  • Status information of linked elements can be inserted directly in the export, which increases the transparency of complex relationships.
  • The output of linked elements via WITH RELATED HIERARCHY can now be sorted by attributes such as name - ideal for structured and clearly organized reports.

Simplified AI configuration

The configurability of the AI function has been enhanced:

  • Administrators can activate or deactivate the AI function directly in the settings menu, without external support.
  • For on-premises installations, it is now possible to run a separate GPT-4o instance via Azure OpenAI, which provides additional control and data security.

Reuse that thinks for itself

The reuse of requirements is now even more efficient.

If a referenced element is transferred from the main project to a local project, expanded there and then export back into the main project, the correct link in the main project is now created automatically.

More clarity for relations

Relations between elements are essential for structuring complex requirements - but can quickly become confusing.

With the latest update, the display in the link window can now be controlled more specifically: relations can be divided into two different types and taken into account separately when filtering. This makes it possible, for example, to display only relevant relationships and hide other relationships that are temporarily not required.

The assignment of relations to a type is done conveniently in the Template Editor and creates a customizable, significantly tidier working environment.

More control, more simplicity, more clarity

With this update, reqSuite® rm brings more automation, control and clarity to all projects. Many steps that were previously carried out manually now run intelligently in the background - making work more efficient, consistent and error-free.

Detailed information on the new functions is available both on the training platform in the release course and in the official manual.

If you have any questions about the update, your personal contact is available at any time - or you can get to know the new features in our open Q&A session on Mondays or Wednesdays.
